A post about television

Sue and I are in high-gear this week trying to find housing for the fall in Durham and for the summer in the DC metro area. My bookmarks folder, where I keep blog posts I'm commenting on, stuff I want to blog about, etc., is filled to the brim with Craigslist postings for sublets in Maryland and NoVA.
So I don't have much of substance to blog about, but since Lee opened the door, I thought I might blog about TV tonight.
I'm curious what people are watching now that the networks are bringing back series that were interrupted by the strike. Since The Wire aired its series finale a few weeks ago, I've been disappointed by most everything else on the air — very little holds a candle to that fine series. It's definitely one of the best in television history, with deep characters and a fascinating plot that stretched across the whole series. Critics who described it as "novelistic" were right — I can't imagine anyone could have made much sense of it if they started watching in the middle of a season, but for those who tuned in faithfully, it was rewarding.
We're mostly watching old shows in our household now. I've been watching Homicide, which is a prequel to The Wire in many ways — some shared actors, a lot of shared creative talent, and the shared milieu of the Baltimore City Police Department. I've also been watching Season One of Murder One, which is decent, and Sue and I have been unwinding some nights with episodes of Bewitched.
There are some good things on air now. Everyone should be watching Battlestar Galactica, but theologians especially. Catch up if you're not watching it yet.
I'm also looking forward to Brothers & Sisters coming back (Tim got me hooked) and Samantha Who? has been providing us decent laughs.
What are you all watching?
